As much as I'd like to say something along the lines of "nowadays", I can't, being that I'm still not quite an adult yet. But the stories I hear from my parents and on here are quite shocking. All sorts of crazy tales that I know I never got to experience and never will. Hell, almost any small crime a kid might commit can ruin them for life. You can be pegged a sex offender for the smallest things. Seniors in high school aren't even allowed to have a good ol' freshman hunt without being sent to jail and getting the ACLU sent on them.
Are kids allowed to enjoy their youth anymore? |

| | | | To be fair, kids these days aren't creative enough to do the fun stuff we did as kids.
...like go outside |

Maybe police are just getting better at tracking this stuff down. Quote:

I'm personally quite glad that it appears to have gone out of style. I'm still a young guy myself, and I've never had the inclination to go out in public and surreptitiously break things. Disrespecting other peoples' property isn't cool, and to me represents douchebaggery way more than youth fun.

I've been to more than a few basement jams, and since we have a pool (and as such are automatically the cool house) my friends were always coming over. Plus Guitar Hero and Rockband made for some hilarious nights.
And we didn't have to vandalize or steal or run around like heathens to have a good time.

And to hear my mother talk I was in a pampered generation since the war baby's had to grow up so much faster than kids today. This is why I had to pay rent when I returned home after 18, and I had to pay my own expenses (car insurance, etc.). My kids are over 18 and we still pay for their phones and insurance and more, but they are still in college so I think it's the right thing to do. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
