Kind of Random - Ted Williams content.

So this might seem kind of random. So I was listening to a De La Soul album - Stakes Is High. On it there's a song called Pony Ride. It's a great song. At the end of it there's a dude talking. He's talking about panhandling and stuff. The dude sounds EXACTLY like Ted Williams - that homeless guy that was discovered recently on the side of the road with the golden voice. Can anyone confirm that this is him?

Here's a youtube video of the song for reference.

The part I'm referring to starts at the 4:19 mark.

His inflection and manner of speaking sounds a lot like Ted Williams, but his voice doesn't exactly match up in my mind.

Who knows though.. it's entirely possible. And who knows that Ted Williams voice has stayed perfectly consistent over the years.

EDIT: After some investigation (if you can call it that), I saw this on wikipedia:
Quote:
At the end of track 15, "Pony Ride", excerpt from documentary Crumb in which Charles Crumb discusses his struggle living on the streets, describing his periods of optimism and depression. While describing this situation, he remarks "stakes is high".

Me too ; ) Just seems like homeless guy's have great speaking voices, but that's a skill you need at street level, there's a method of appearance behind that one.

Yeah it's a great song. So what's the deal there's just a boatload of golden voiced homeless dudes living on the street?

Yes, absolutely. How else will they get people to listen to their drunken rambling? Draw 'em in with the voice, then hit 'em with the lunacy.

When manners are all you pretty much have left, you have to learn to use them well. An eloquent inflected voice is an indication of once time higher education, of once time prosperity gone wrong. That may be the difference between getting dinner or not getting dinner, if your considered maybe at one time an upstanding citizen that was a victim of cruel circumstance. It's simple manners but may actually indicate how they are getting scarcer in society, the smarter fellows will improvise, they have to, ime.
