On a slightly braggy note: He used to let my old band practice in his army barracks rehearsal spot in San Pedro. It was a total punk rock dive inside but had the same kind of unpretentious cool as his unassuming plain white econo.

Some contractors have the same "do what works for you" attitude about their vans. One contractor had a system of two shelves that ran the entire length of the back of the van... just a few inches high each. One for plywood, and one for lumber... and he still had a workable floor above that for his tools.

I drive/ride in one of those Ford vans to work and back 4 times a week. You get those crosswinds whipping up off of the Salt Flats or the West Desert, and it makes the trip a bit of a white knuckler.

Against Me's bus and trailer slides off the road.
