In Europe, yes (not 100% sure).

In the US, no clue, I'd think so, but it's possible that the policies are a lot stricter over there.

Come On!!

Honestly, I wouldn't risk it. Just ship it to your location. I shipped all my toiletries(sp) and had nothing but clothing in my bags.

Checked, yes. You might have to declare it though. Usually you do not have to for a small personal knife. Were talking a swiss army/letherman/folding knife here, and not a machete, right?

On board, only if you want to taste the airport floor.

I carried my oxtar from Toronto Airport to Heathrow and got away with it, Being as it is part of highland dress, So it was cool. Also had a pocket knife, like you said, on a post 9/11 flight from toronto to new york, they were cool with it. You should do just fine.

If it's just a pocketknife, then absolutely, no doubt, they won't even ask a question.

I came back from spain with a massive bread knife in my checked luggage. I don't see why it should be a problem considering it's under the plane and there's no real way for you to get to it to use against someone unless it's like Con Air and you're crawling under the plane shivving US marshalls.

Yep. Checked luggage is no problem.

You can even have an unloaded handgun in your checked luggage.

Yes, but you need to declare a handgun, have it inspected and sign for it. No need to mention a pocket knife.

The folks above are right on, you may absolutely have one in checked baggage.

Just a friendly piece of advice, if it's a spendy one (Chris Reeve, etc), think twice about it. There are unethical TSA folks just like there are in other lines of work, and you don't want to argue sticky fingers with the TSA.

If I'm traveling, my CRKT goes with me, my nice stuff stays home.

Yes, you can, in checked luggage. You don't need to declare it.

I hope you're not flying to Europe, as carrying a knife is often illegal around these parts.

I had to declare my chefs knives at customs when I arrived in New Zealand, but I didn't have any problems with them in my checked baggage.
