Happy Paddy's Day to you all - to everyone in Ireland, and to all you Plastic Paddys everywhere else.
A few thoughts for those of you in the US though:
1) Nobody in Ireland drinks green beer and they laugh at anyone who does.
2) It's Paddy, not Patty. Patty is short for Patricia, and I don't think they made women into saints back then!
3) Nobody in Ireland will be eating corned beef and cabbage tonight - it's more likely to be a post-pub kebab and chips.
So, drink lots, make merry and sláinte! |

I'm sure corned beef will be on special, and if the band gets it cheap, I'll have a heaping helping of that as well.
All in all, I think tonight is going to ROCK!!! \m/ \m/

Got the call at 11am today for the gig. Playing with two guitarist. One I haven't gigged with in about four years. The other, I've never met. We'll get through it. Good coin.
Cash and Guinness are reasonable compensation.
Have fun.

Today, so far, has involved an Ulster Fry, a few pints of the black stuff, back here for lunch, couple of beers and a whiskey with lunch, before going back out for more Guinness.
Irish, Plastic Paddy or just general partygoer, have a great day and all the best from the home land.

Oh, and aside from the black pudding, I really want an Ulster Fry. I just looked up what that is. Yum!!!

-Mike | Yep, it's a public holiday in Ireland. Traditionally, it's also a day where those people who give up drinking, smoking, etc for Lent can excuse themselves for the day. I also doubt many people in Ireland will be turning up for work tomorrow. |

-Mike | You need your black and white pudding mate! It mightn't sound terribly appealing, but wait until you taste it! Most people have the day off, St Patricks Day is a bank holiday here. Quote:

Dublin is the biggest airport, but if you want to actually experience Ireland, I'd avoid Dublin entirely. Its not an "Irish" feeling city at all. You might enjoy flying into Cork, spending a while there, a little time in Galway city and Belfast, where I currently live, is definitely worth a visit, for the sake of soaking up some of the history of the city. If you make it to Belfast, let me know, I'll show you where to get a decent pint and I'll even hook you up with an Ulster fry at my home!

I'm going to save this post in text form for reference. We'll stay away from Dublin for the most part.
I'm not much of a traveler anyway, but when I do, I attempt to stay away from all the touristy stuff if possible. Irritates my wife, but I just don't like being one of those type.

| | | This is as close to Irish as I get:
But I'll drink it in honor of my ancestral cousins across the channel (the North Channel that is...between Scotland and Ireland...north of the Irish Sea...yeah).
