Lapop advise - $500

I have $500 to spend on a laptop for my wife. No I can't buy bass gear with the money. She needs it for light word processing (Microsoft office, e-mail type stuff) but I will use it on occasion too for music, web, movies, e-mail, etc (no gaming).

What will give me best bang for my buck at that price?

I have the same exact laptop, and it performs all the applications you need it for. I even use it with my Mbox interface as my Pro Tools system.

She will love this.... it's small enough to fit in a purse.

Hey Excane, how was your vacation?

I could have used your advice in my own computer thread:

Help me find a computer!

Not yet, still not sure what to get. I'm leaning towards a PC powerful enough to run something user-friendly like ableton live. Definitely got to have some sort of recording/mixing software.

If you have an extra $50 - http://www.woot.com/ for today only (only one deal per day at woot, ends 4/20 at 11:59 pm CST). HP DV-7 series.

Have the same laptop and paid almost $1000 for it and love it so far. $550 is just a steal for this.
