Laptop sound broken?

Sign in to disble this ad
The sound on my laptop has been playing up alot lately, some days it works some days it doesnt.

However the last couple of days it just keeps saying "no audio output device is installed"

Usually when it says this i just turn it off and turn it back on but it hasnt worked the last couple of times.

So is there anything i can do to fix it or is it time to buy a new laptop?

Thanks

its very unlikely that the sound part of your laptop is broken, with the rest of it working, physically i mean

it will just be your soundcard driver software is mangled

cheers

What make is your laptop? what OS are you running? If you're on XP then you can use the device manager...also the manufacturers website will often have drivers for free download.

go to your control panel and find 'device manager'. There should be an audio device somewhere on the list, with a warning icon by it showing there's no driver. If you open the devices properties, you can install it manually from there.

Do you have the original installation disks that came with the laptop?

What's the exact model number of your Acer, and which version of Vista are you running?

Googling this info will allow one to see if others are having the same problem thus possibly flushing out a solution.
