Larry Wilmore's "Black Thoughts"

Sign in to disble this ad
You know, I hadn't heard of Larry Wilmore until he showed up on The Daily Show as the Senior Black Correspondent. I thought he was hilarious. Come to find out, he's had a hand in some of the funniest parts of my childhood.

I came across this article on him in the midst of poking some lighthearted fun at a friend of mine here on TB. The interview is entertaining and telling, but the video at the bottom of the page is priceless.

http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/media/...ating-bla.html

Race can be quite a divisive issue, but this guy has just about the same views as me when it comes to the matter. Namely, we all can get a tad ridiculous sometimes

What do y'all think of the guy? Of the video? Of the whatever???

Yeah, thanks. I came to TalkBass to get away from the limelight and live a quiet peaceful online existence. Thanks for blowing my cover, and then starting a thread about me.

Just have Doc Cheese post here. Dont matter what he says, just have him post "hello" or something and it'll be sure to pick up.

I'd predict 13 pages then a lock and 3 temp bannings.

This thread needs wimmenz.

I was watching South Park last night. It was the Facebook/Tron episode and (I think it was Cartman) was telling Stan something like "dude, you need more women friends on facebook. Everyone knows that one chick FB friend is worth like 4 guy FB friends.."

I very much like his style, very relaxed and incisive with it, seems like one cool dude with a knowing edge, he gets it across real well, cool

This guy was a writer on In Living Color back in the day....boy he sure knows how to make fun of his own people! He touched on a lot of poignant things in the video, but one of them that gave me quite the rollicking guffaw was when he spoke on the subject of having a black president.

Some people will say that, since we have a black president, racism in America is over. Well...I wouldn't quite go that far. After all, Obama is a very comfortable level of blackness. Now if Flava Flav was elected....

Yeah that one got me too.
He was then also saying something like "but hey, Flava Flav's an uncomfortable level of black for me too.." lol

This guy is really cool - very at ease with the topic & very real. I was totally unaware that he was a writer for In Living Color - they had a lot of very talented people on that show.

I only posted that picture cause you guys were talking about how bad this thread was. I thought the video and the article were both amusing.

Same here...I thought he was some underground guy that Jon Stewart gave a shot one day.

Everyone involved in The Daily Show is at the top of that game. LW is no exception.

Jews know funny, He's funny.

And yea, I'm Jewish so, I can say that.

I always saw the guys on Stewart's crew as just his funny minions. I never knew Wilmore had such a massive part of my childhood.

What gets me, too, is how alike we think. I feel like we grew up together

Whoa, I didn't know this, either. I watched that a lot back in its heyday.

Wilmore's funny as hell on the Daily Show. I'll have to check out the video later.

You'll enjoy it

I imagined his parts on the Daily Show as Jon Stewart's ideas, but Wilmore's delivery. Turns out, it was pretty much Wilmore the whole time

So all y'all black folks measure your level of blackness? I never knew.
