Layaway sites.

Anybody have any experiences with them?

I just read an article at yahoo and it seemed kinda interesting. I might consider getting a PS3, but do not have $400 at the time and those layaway sites seem really good.

How about putting some money in a personal savings account and getting some interest on it? That's what the layaway sites do with all the money they get.

I would think that with the economic circumstances being what they are today-- governments, businesses and individuals all in debt up to their armpits because of the habit of buying luxuries on credit when the money isn't available, people would learn something about the wisdom of living within one's means.

Save the money first and then buy it or do without.

Credit cards are reverse layaway. Take it now, pay later. -- Unfortunately that's what got us into this mess.

Layaway is great, but for something like a PS3 which isn't going anywhere, you're better off saving the money now, and then taking it to the store to pick up. Might as well earn your own interest then let a company take it for you.
