No private retailers at all? Given that we have liquor stores on every other corner down here, and beer and wine sales in Walmart and grocery stores (as well as convenience stores), that seems strange. There are a few states who control liquor sales, but not many.
Hopefully the union comes to some agreement before too long. Good luck!

Anyhow, last time the liquor store employees went on strike, the managers had to step down to handle the cash register. They were still in business, slow but sure. However the demands were quickly met, when the retail security organization, under the same retail&services labour union, threatened to start a support strike. This was because the store personnel themselves don't have any real means to stop a shoplifter around here, only security personnel have the right to apprehend a person doing a minor offence - in effect, the support strike would had ment free booze for everyone willing to put on a ski mask and walk out from the store, right in front of the managers' eyes

Hopefully the union comes to some agreement before too long. Good luck! | liquor is government here too, but beer and wine off sales compete with the government stores...the government here outlawed cheapo wines as they were consumed mainly by winos ,who now use solvents, gasoline etc..listerine and similar stuff has to be kept behind the counter now as winos will steal it..
it is doubtful any one out west will be shedding any tears for toronto.......even western ontarians
