... At least I have my health

Today is not my day. Despite the fact that it's a day off of work, it's no picnic. This is just me posting about it so I have something to do...

MY CAR HATES ME:

I have a 98 Accord that I bought as a winter beater. It was meant to replace my '90 Lexus that was a gas hog. And I bought the car knowing full well it had some issues. I didn't care, because the gas savings would pay for the whole car eventually. The tranny slips, big deal!
Well, the rear door doesn't like to unlock with the rest of them 100% of the time. It usually chooses the moment when I have a bass and a 12 pack in my hands and I need to put them back there.
Two days ago, the other side door in the back, the handle breaks. So I have to open the back doors from the front.
It takes me 10 minutes to get to work and 9-1/2 minutes to get warm enough to feel heat.
If I drive it long distance, it's nice and warm... until I slow to a stop, then it blows cold air at me...
And today, the battery dies. Had to push the car out so my girlfriend could get to work. It's 14 degrees outside before the windchill.
Freaking car! Still waiting for a jump, so I can have something more entertaining to do.

THE IRS KINDA BLOWS!
I have made it a point to try to get taxes done early, so they are out of the way and my return comes back and G.A.S. money is available. Ever since that stimulus package, where the early birds got the most moolah, I felt it's a good idea.
Well, this year, I filled it out as much as I could, before finding out that 2 of the forms I need aren't completed yet from the IRS. See, I use my house as a business and that requires the 8829, as well as the Schedule C. Plus, I itemize, so Schedule A.
GUESS WHAT!?! They aren't completed on the IRS' end, so I have to wait to finish my taxes. Would have been a great "trapped in the house with the day off" activity, but no!

PROPERTY TAX + INSURANCE = FLAT BROKE

Both bills due within 2 days of each other. The big one is due 2 days before I get my next paycheck. And wouldn't you know it, I barely have enough to cover it, so I'm SOL until Friday, 2 days of no money. I'd sell my gear, but...

WAITING ON A TRADE FROM TB-ER
I traded off a bass to a guy and he had it in 2 days. The one he was to send me... well, it'll be here tomorrow. Week and a half wait for me. Yeah, it's worth it, but the guy dragged his feet and it's taking its sweet-ass time. I am awaiting this bass for a project, which I already have everything ready! Some of the old parts are destined for another bass sitting here, not working at all, because I expected the bass LAST WEEEEEEK!!!!
Once again, perfect project for a day like today, but no such luck, buttercup!

CL KEEPS TAUNTING ME
I make a habit of checking Craigslist quite often, for deals that I can turn around. Well, today has had a few! But I have no money to do anything about them. And if I had the money, my car isn't working, so I couldn't get them anyway. And I need my car to work, so any money I may find can only go to that.

So... I'm sitting here, bored off of my ass. Played Jeopardy on the Wii, ate a sandwich, still waiting on my buddy to come over and jump my car. So I can... drive? Nowhere to go! Have a session to go to later tonight. But that requires a car. So once again, who knows what will come? Plus, it's snowing and Cleveland's notoriously bad for keeping the snow clear, so the 30 min drive may end up at 3 hours, like last week (didn't go then, btw).

At least I have my health!!!

Well.... I hear ya. Lot's of frustrating stuff. Sounds like my luck.
However - "At least I have my health" - unless you've actually faced some really serious stuff, you really cant imagine how true that statement is. Just saying

+1!
A few minor inconveniences... nothing really troubling there. Welcome to life I guess
Go buy a battery for your car, do your taxes/insurance, and stop going on Craigslist.

It wasn't my intention to make this some dramatic thread, though the title may lead to that assumption, so I'm sorry. I just had some petty bitching to do, so I did... out of boredom!

Yeah, my problems aren't bad by a longshot, just hate to have a wasted day off.
Of course, beer could have been my friend and I could have just spent the day off wasted.

I WILL have a beer!

If you have a bass handy, you could always play bass for a while.

Let me rephrase:

Property Tax, IRS and money frustrations make me wonder if having it (money) is really worth it.

Money gives you choice, depends if those choices are of -real- worth to you. Money changes eveything, but sometimes not for the better, that's an individual choice, it won't -solve- everything, anyways, my 2 pence

Yeah. Ask the lady in Idaho who won $80 million in powerball, and now has to deal with her estranged psycho husband.

There's a lot you can do with that amount of money, like play people at their own game ; )
