Sadness.
We have surely lost one of the Giants.

It was interesting hearing on the radio how the studio tried to get her to claim she was Latin so that she would be marketable in segregated America. It shows just how sad it was that she could claim to be mixed race from another country and possibly be accepted while demanding that she be recognized as the American she was limited her career.

It is also interesting to note that when she married a white man, she went to France to do it, and kept the marriage secret for three years. If she were a young starlet now, men of all colors would be lined up for a crack at marrying her!

Of all the famous people I've met/worked with in my life, Lena Horne was one of them.

May she R.I.P.

An almost indescribably beautiful woman whose beauty was matched only by her voice. And her beauty only grew the older she got. Rest in peace, Lena. When I get to the Other Side I'll offer my services to you as a bass player.

Wow. Hadn't heard about her death on the news. What a shock. Always enjoyed hearing her voice on recordings.
