NBC has announced that in the beginning of Feb. Jay Leno's 10 pm show is done. They are still in negotiations to keep Leno and Conan, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

At the same time, Jimmy Fallon has really improved his show since he started. I'm not a fan of his, I usually find him pretty annoying, but he really got his act together. At this point, I probably enjoy his show more than I do Conans. Basically, I think Conan is a much better personality, but Fallon has the better show. I remember one person saying that Fallon got all of Conans old writers, which could certainly account for what I'm seeing, but I don't know if it's true or not.

I've got loyalty towards Conan but honestly it's not a huge issue considering the Colbert Report is on opposite that time slot and slays both of them in terms of entertainment.

Conan has been consistently better than Leno, but since they`ve switched him to an earlier time slot his comedy has gone from his old style to this more refined, clean-cut sort of deal which has lost its edge. It`s not horrible, but it`s not him either. Fallon at first was so bad I felt embarrassed for him, but I think even he realized how bad it was and he started doing more of his own material which seemed to revamp the show (you can tell this by the remarks he`d make if a joke flopped - and often the remarks were hilarious). As it stands it`s still in its infancy phase, but I think Fallon`s doing a really good job at this point.
Anyways, cut Leno - he`s had his shot and he needs to go. Keep Conan - he`s still good. Keep Fallon - he`s new, but he definitely seeming to 'get it' and I think in a year or two he`ll be better than Conan ever was in that time slot... Unfortunately I think they`ll take Leno back and either cut Fallon or Conan... |

Owen Biddle-Fallon
I'd take ANY of them. In fact their bands are far better then ANY of their comedy!
