Somewhere, a NBC exec is crying and Conan O'Brien is laughing all the way to the bank (and to TBS).

Personally, I think this is awesome. People saw right through the "nice guy in all this" act, or finally realized how shticky and milquetoast his humor is. All on NBC's dime. I'm really happy this is how this is all goin down. Screw the successor for the old-hat, Feel the burn.

As a comedian Leno blows. He needs to give up the comedy, and go into an automotive based show. I heard rumors of him doing an American Top Gear, but I dont think thats gonna happen. Thats where he need to go tho. He's not funny, but he Loves cars.

All of his stuff is stolen. Everything he does during late night was done by a different late night host.

Wow....don't usually watch TV much anymore and happened to see him the other night....he really sucked. Totally hackneyed and formulaic with canned followup mumbles.

I think the real problem was NBC should have kept Conan but let him off his leash. Conan is naturally funny but when he took over for Jay, he was tamed down to appease the old people. Look, they hired him to bring in younger folks what did they expect? Last time I checked old people and young people typically do not share the same kind of sense of humor. An old person joke usually involves something relevant or that can be related to from decades prior whereas the younger folks will most likely understand jokes that apply to today's times but goes over the heads of the older folks.

I loved it when right after Conan took over, he dressed up as someone else and interviewed a bunch of old people who were Late Night listeners. They were totally bashing him and his sense of humor but it was hysterical to watch especially how he reacted to them. It was classic Conan but then NBC tried to tame him down. I was wishing when he interviewed them he brought Triumph the insult comic dog. That would have been the only thing that would have made the bit even funnier as he tried to poop on on of the old people or something...

I really dislike both Leno and Conan though I do think Conan is funnier.

The person I feel sorry for is Rickey Minor who left American Idol just a month ago to become Leno's music director. Not a great position to be in at all.

Well I can't say American Idol is in a terrific place either...
I do like the change in musical theme that has come to Leno's show, but that's about it. The show itself has become quite poor...

I truely believe that the large majority of people who watched Leno pre-Conan simply did so out of habit. When Conan took over they no longer had their high tech version of warm milk to lull them to sleep and had to figure out how to go to bed without it. Now they simply have no reason to go back to watching Leno because the dependency is gone.

What happened to Kevin Eubanks? I really hope Leno gets canceled now, that would be funny. Although I have no idea who would replace him, I doubt that Conan would come back, plus he has another show lined up.

Kinda shows a little truth to the theory that some were espousing that it was Leno's poor showing in the 10:00 time slot that resulted in Conan's bad ratings at 11:30, people were turning off NBC in droves because of Leno. NBC would have been better served in firing Leno from the get-go.

He quit the show (just in time it looks like, perhaps he knew something?) to concentrate on his personal music career.

Exactly. His "nice guy" image took a huge hit, and he's no longer that familiar late-night warm blanket. He may never be big in comedy again. Then again, there's always an audience for safe, predictable and comfortable humor, so who knows?

True. This season was the lowest in the ratings by a mile.

Apparently so lol, though I like the new musicians better as I said before.

I'm also extremely amused and satisfied by this turn of events. Jay Leno no longer looks like the "nice guy" and I think he deserves it frankly. I understand the whole "business decision" view on this situation, but just look at how it worked out. People would have come to Conan eventually on NBC. Now, however, he MUST have a larger fan base than Leno does now, and he's NOT on NBC! They're just burying themselves deeper now, no matter what they do.

That's what I mean, it's not like he left a successful show for a failing one. At least now he can say he was on The Tonight Show (however long THAT remains a huge honour is questionable at this point).

1. i heard rumors of adam corolla doing that show years ago...

2. nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! he would ruin that shows name too.

3. solution: air top gear in the states, and not that laggy bbc america either. theyre funnier than jay is anyway (hosts + writers/.

4. solution for jay: go home and enjoy the fortune youve amassed; the public has no use for you.

They just need to bring back Conan. Leno is horrible.

Give Conan some credit. The ONLY way I'd consider even stepping foot back in bed with NBC, at this point in his life, was if they lifted the gag order, gave him complete carte blanche for material, and an unrevokable contract with terms of his choosing, and a sizeable raise.

But I'd better Conan to say f-off entirely.
