I doubt very much this thing is a Gibson although I could be wrong, I don't keep up with the "guitar" side of things. |

From the distance, the logo actually looks like the "Oscar Schmidt" logo. I've seen a model close to that from Washburn's custom shop, but it was more compact.

| | | | The logo doesn't appear to be a Gibson logo by any means. I've never seen an LP without the normal control setup, I've seen variations but not ones with just one knob. Inlays look a little off perhaps, I can't tell much from those pictures. The single pickup is also rather odd, but not unheard of, it should still have tone controls at least.
I guess it could have been a Les Paul at one time, but not much is left. If so then I wouldn't pay anywhere near that much for it. Personally I'm quite skeptical that this is even a Gibson. If anyone has evidence to prove otherwise I would be better educated that I was before and would love to see it. |

les paul production stopped in1960, and then gibson, for a short time, tried to market a new, thin double-cut as the les paul--until lester polfus found out and demanded his name be removed...we now know the 'new' les paul as the sg
this isn't a les paul or an sg, hopefully anyone spending $1800 on a guitar wouldn't be fooled
