Life after de quervain's tenosynovitis
After almost a year of being bummed about having no band, I recently started one up with some friends and have been having a great time. That is, until a few months ago my wrists started hurting. Today I was referred to a specialist, but my GP thinks I have de quervain's tenosynovitis .
Have any of you had this before? Looks like years of carrying SVT's, being a graphic designer, and playing stringed instruments has led to this. I keep reading about some musicians having to hang up ANYTHING that would aggravate it for 6-18 months. Not only would that cause me to lose all of my clients and livelihood, but also the joy that comes from playing music.
I am super bummed. Wondering if any of you have gone thru this and has any good happy endings to share.
i assume another form of tendonitis?
dont give up, there has been many TBers on here that have gone through this in some form and many threads posted if you search, changing techniques and not over playing and practicing to much, there are operations too to free up the tendons, dont think all is lost because it isnt
Rheumatoid Arthritis runs in my family. I seem to be developing it in my left hand. At 53, and battling multiple myeloma, I have good days & bad days.
I just spread my practices out over shorter intervals and don't cram.
That has helped. The cold, cold winter has been hard on my hands.
