Just signed on to facebook to check up on things and found out that a friend from high school was killed in a car crash this morning. Looking at her facebook page, you can still see her comments from earlier today. She was posting stuff, joking around, talking about her kids and such like it was any other day and now she's gone. Little did she know this morning when she was posting that stuff and clowning around, it would be her last morning on earth... damn... RIP, Suzie.
It's both very sad and even a little creepy at the same time. Yeah I'm kind of down but just want to use this as little opportunity to remind folks that no matter what, appreciate good friends and family and even though sometimes you may not always see eye to eye, never take them for granted. Sooner or later we're all leaving this world, enjoy the precious time you have on it with the folks you care about 'cuz it may not be as long as you think...

And, if I may be so presumtious, please: friending someone on Facebook and then writing on their wall or even sending them an IM is not what the OP means by "appreciat(ing) good friend and family" Pick up the phone or write a letter. Even send a personal email. Social networking is a great way to reconnect, but it is Teh Suk for actually maintaining a connection or (gasp!) encouraging that connection to grow.

Sorry for the OT rant. And very sorry for the loss of your friend.

As time goes on, I seem to have more and more of these "reminders"

May your friend Suzie rest in peace.

Me too. My kids jokingly sing that song "All my friends are dead".

Just lost my friend Brian on Friday at a very young age too. Couldn't agree with you more about enjoying life while you still have it because you never know if today will be your last.
