The most annoying pop/modern phrases, cliches' or colloquialism.

Here are just 2 of my choices for most annoying phrases:

"Thinking outside the box"
Possibly the most annoying business buzz-phrase ever dreamed up.

and: "closure"
You get your TV stolen and you need "closure" BRAAACH

"Boots on the ground" when not referring a military operation, from a few years ago.
"At the end of the day", still being used.
"Work flow" and "Reach out to your HR generalist" are pretty bad, too.

Ok, I shouldn't but:

"VALIDATE"

Weepy puffy-handed man: "Why wont you "validate" my feelings"

Then I feel nauseous and wonder why he hasnt auto-erotic-asphyxiated yet

I agree. "FAIL" has outstayed its welcome. I think it's time it goes away.

Any expression that gets a blunt misinterpretation by dumb people trying to justify themselves.

Worst one probably is that the customer is always right. I never heard it claimed by a customer who was right.

"A whole 'nother" and "I could care less"

While grammatically the last one is correct, people really mean to say "I couldn't care less".

Yo, Bro. Got bling? Let's take this to the next level for the 50,000 ft. view, think outside the box, if you will, and conversate on this perfect storm of retro, sweet, right on, no-brainer social networking we've got going on...Oops, my bad. Makes for a major fail, right?

If I was your boss in an office I would fire you on the spot for that paragraph alone.

Excpet for Six in one, I agree. Even that should be used sparingly.

Athletisism ( we can do better than that)

Specificity (same as above)

Proactive (meaningless uninformative buzz word)

Eco-Friendly/Green (just another marketing phrase. Stick a picture of a leaf on anything and it automatically makes it single handedly prolonghte life of a snail darter)

To go along with that, these vehicles with the little emissions labels. My Accord is a Super Ultra low emmision vehicle. Come on! Subaru's Partial Zero Emission Vehicle is even stupider. Either its zero or it is some. What is partial nothing?

All that &*%$s gotta stop. Really.
