Not sure where to post this but it could be a problem to some travelers.

This one just appeared on radars:

How many in-flight fires have there been due to batteries?
Please exclude the garbage, self-igniting ones recalled.

I've my RC batteries burn up. The new LiPo batteries are even more of a fire hazzard than Lithiums NEVER leave them charging unattended!!!

should i worry about the power packs for my cordless makita drill?

I've never had a problem with my Makita and other cordless power tools. It might be more of a problem with the high performance RC battery packs. They trade off weight and performance for safety Any time I've had or have heard about others having failures was during charging. Once they are charged, the seem to be safe
