I'm curious too. I heard no vitriol.

My guess? Asking why do they riot or if people could defend their own shop/home was interpreted as politics.

As far as I'm concerned I've seen some people insulting others, acting like arsehats, and some politic comments.

I agree with that decision. There were some loaded posts in there. I felt my blood boiling a bit myself

Sometimes being a little out of hand is good for understanding other peoples positions and opinions. It's better than the 1 line thread count raising or poo throwing that goes on over at HC. Nothing thought provoking over there. I also think sometimes TB peeps are pretty good at policing themselves.

I've been watching it on and off all day today. IMHO, becuase there was no swift and immediate show of force by law enforcement, the problem is spreading like wildfire. People in other areas now realize that the police response isn't going to be severe. At least not severe enough to make them think twice about doing it. And so............it spreads. It's no longer about the the guy who was killed by police. Its' now about oportunists looking to loot and destroy property for kicks.

Sounds like LA and the 92 Rodney King Riots. While the racial attacks ended after the first night the looting spread north for three days and only stopped when the National Guard was out and the Koreatown Militia started getting TV coverage for shooting.

Yep. NBC was showing a scene where police were pushing back a crowd as another group of rioters were behind the police trashing their police cars.

there have been a couple of disturbances so far this evening but not on the scale of yesterday. of course there are now zillions of rumours going around about where will kick off next...

they've brought in a lot of police forces from elsewhere in the UK, as I understand it. police prescence was very heavy just now on my route home...
