I just moved to the beach and want to treat myself to a beater beach car.
I'm hoping for a fun car to drive around town on the weekends. My only criteria is that it be old school, under 10k, and relatively reliable. The 10k price limits it to only a few cars like a 70's Karman Ghia or an old Jeep.
I'm not really a car guy and this will be my first "toy" purchase in that area. I don't want any regrets by winding up with a mechanical nightmare. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions to point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

Definitely not old school though. |

That, or an old jeep, or a VW Bug. Bugs are great on the beach.

Thanks! | Note: No matter what you buy to drive around on the beach, always...*always*...carry a sheet of plywood or siding material with you, and a bag of cheap clay cat litter. Even 4WD's get stuck. A simple sheet of plywood and a little bit of cat litter for your tires to get traction on will get you out of soft or wet sand very nicely!
