Looking for info on stock photo subscriptions for nonprofit organization

I'm researching sources of stock photos and possibly videos for use by my church. So far it looks like the leading contender is istockphoto.com. They have a nice selection of photos and videos. They're still pricey though.

Has anyone else done research into this for an organization? I'd love to hear some input and some varied ideas. I was also thinking about buying CD-ROM collections but I think an online service would be more suited to our needs.

Just use one of the many photoshops I've done of you. I'll let you use them for your organization free of charge.

Photoshopped images of me, while in great demand, would not quite completely fill our need.

If we could use images for signature, this would be mine.

We really need to have a large catalog of professional photos and videos that we can legally use to be available to choose from at any given time. It's not that I'm currently looking for any particular pictures. This is for long-term use for photoshop and other multimedia, brochures, fliers, etc...

iStockPhoto is about the cheapest bank you'll find.

Shuffle through Getty, Corbis, Punchstock or Veer to get an idea of how much a single royalty-free picture costs.

You could consider buying a couple of CD's though.

The aforementioned image banks will often sell a bundle of images together as a CD. They are mainly mentioned when browsing single pictures ("buy the collection" sort of link). They are quite pricey though, so it really is a deal only when most of the pictures on it will be used

I've looked at a few free photo sites and found them inadequate. The photo quality and content is inconsisent compared to the pay sites and you have to sift through a lot more pictures to find the really good ones. Everything I've seen on istockphoto.com is top notch. I haven't seen this site though and it looks maybe a bit better. Thanks for the link. I am still looking for a pro site though.

If you're looking for professional work, I'm afraid it will be pretty hard to obtain it without the fee associated to it. iStockPhoto is indeed the cheapest you'll find that maintains a good quality and a large catalog.
