I am in the market for a nice rain shell. I have looked at brands such as patagonia, marmot, mountain hardwear ect. I do a lot of outdoor activities and I would like one before spring hits. Does anyone have any suggestions? |

Paramo is pricey but it's the best stuff around. I have a waterproof jacket at pants that I wore when I climbed Helvellyn in the Lake District, United Kingdom recently. |

Absolutely love it as with every North Face product i own. Includes a zip in feature, so if you want to insulate it more you can add a North Face fleece.

WL Gore (the company that makes the proprietary waterproof breathable film) is very picky. They test everything. Most every brand REI carries, (Patagonia, Marmot,North Face, REI, etc) have lifetime warranties. Expect to spend about 150$ on up depending upon the additional features you want. I have a Marmot Parka I've had for 15 years, still works great.

Back right before Christmas I spent about a Grand in there for some new jackets and fleeces. A few North Face, a few Mountain Hardware, etc. Great store with great customer service. A quick glance through the "Sale" section on their site shows some Marmot, Kavu, Mountain Harware - all the brands you seem to be looking at - for right at your price range.
