Looking for some good acoustic guitar songs...

Sign in to disble this ad
Since leaving the band and moving to the UK, I have been spending more time on my old acoustic guitar (while still playing bass in the church band). I've enjoyed the change of pace as well as discovering\re-discovering some tunes I used to play long ago. I've been playing mostly fingerstyle blues (Tears in Heaven and other Clapton unplugged songs) as well as converting over some songs originally played on electric guitar (SRV's Lenny, Allman Bros' Jessica, etc). Also trying to learn James Taylor's "Fire and Rain", which I've always loved, but never attempted to play. I've even reached WAAAY back to Croce's "Time in a Bottle", which is one of the first songs I learned to play on guitar.

Anyways, I'm looking for suggestions on other songs that might be recognizable and go beyond just strumming a couple of open chords. I'm also interested in songs that were originally recorded on electric, but cool when played on acoustic. I'm not an advanced player and most of the stuff I've described above have been a challenging stretch, but I'm getting there! Any ideas? Thanks
