Now, I can definitely see it being 4+ removing ANY advantage to flying, especially if we may not be able to access carry-ons or have anything on our laps, let alone move about the cabin.
I'm supposed to fly to Cincinnati sometime in the next couple of months... I might just opt to drive instead. I'd probably get there quicker anyway.

It's getting ridiculous. Flying never bothered me but since 9/11 and the latest stuff going down, I get super nervous when I get on a plane anymore. I always opt to drive when it's an option. I just can't stand thinking that the plane I'm on is the same one some nut job with a death wish is on.
Scary stuff. Quote:

-Mike | I figure with the added delays getting through security, the potential inability to move about the cabin, the potential loss of anything on your lap i.e. reading material... flying has lost all benefits within about 750 miles.
Driving is often cheaper, and might actually be quicker, depending on the airports you're dealing with.

Everyone is so afraid of a couple nut jobs in caves that we have been willing to give up liberties left and right for a false sense of security. Anyone who wants to do us harm will find a way no matter what measures have been put in place to stop them, so IMHO, we may as well be comfortable when they try. |

I wonder when I'm going to have to show up now for that 6 am departure?

Scary stuff. | Still safer than the highway, where you're on the road with seemingly thousands of people who have a death wish, or at least aren't paying attention. (just had to beep at someone today attempting to merge into my car- GPS systems are for glancing, not staring...)

My little way of giving the finger back to Al-Qaeda.

It basically says we, Canada and the US, are going about airport security wrong. The part about the long lineups makes a *lot* of sense. http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/Lo...529/story.html |

I've been on a plane with a few people who would fit the "terrorist" stereotype, but it hasn't bothered me. I have yet to be stuck in terribly long delays because of security. I get to the airport plenty of time early, and I check in online the night before the flight.
I really don't know what all the fuss is about.

-Mike | I think people just miss the days when all you did was literally walk on the plane, sat for 20 minutes as they put the baggage underneath, and then took off.
But even so, some airports take forever regardless of how well prepared you are before your flight. I go out to LA twice every year and every time it takes me an hour just to get through security(at 5 am...) and then another hour before I can even get on the plane, and then at least 30 minutes before we finally take off. It`s not fun at all... |

I dropped a buddy off at the John Wayne airport (It was kind of on the way) and proceeded to drive out to Vegas. It took me 5.5 hours to drive it. I stopped for gas, and to grab something to eat. I arrived to our room an hour before they did. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
