this is Loopy

Sign in to disble this ad

Loopy is well over 20 years old- WAY past warranty for a cat. She's been amazingly healthy for EVER, but has begun to slip over the past few days & doesn't seem to have the strength to move right now. I may take her on a one-way trip to the vet tomorrow. She's purring as hard as she can, but that's all she can do. Love your pets, love your peeps(not necessarily in that order).

Naw man, I appreciate you guys- & Maki, I realize you ain't a cat guy- but I know you understand losing a well-loved animal. They teach us a lot about unconditional love. This kitty just wants to be w/us a little longer. Love hurts.

Grieving is a process. Give it time and be patient with yourself. It gets easier with time.

What a sweet cat. I know this is my own opinion, but just let her go gently... don't have a vet take her. Let her die at home where she's loved.

Show the man some love please !

If she's not in pain, why indeed not let her die at home? Cats don't like vets so ...

aw, man. what a cool cat. my sympathies - 20 years, though. you're very lucky, that's quite a great run for a kitty.

Isn't going to make it any easier for you, but i agree that Loopy should be at home. It may get a bit dicey and surreal near the end, but I think, at this point, in your arms is where ole Loopy would like to be, if and when that time comes. She'll feel more comfy letting go that way...don't want her last moments to be stressful, scary ones.

Good mojo your way bro.

well shes seems to have had a long happy life and if she is purring shes probably not in pain or stress. hopefully the vet will tell you just bring her home and let her have some few great days with her family.

i had a cat die named Bennie and he had to die alone under the house, i moved away and wasnt able to take him. i know cats will sometimes go to be alone when in pain or dieing but i want to turn time around and hold him one more time.

Thanks again, guys- I appreciate it all, even well-intentioned tackiness.
On *stay at home*- I dunno, giving up the ghost in her sleep would be great, but if she gets to where she can't get up to crap, eat, etc & is just lying there, that's no kind of life. She did get up and get back in her little bed, where's she's sleeping now. I certainly won't wake her up for the one-way ride.
It's hard- kids back to school this morning
My 87-yr-old dad's in the hospital
-but might come home today
Kitteh's on her last legs
-but she's sleeping peacefully
Emotional rollercoaster rides are not my favorite...

Yeah, I recently lost my pup that I raised from 3 months old. He gave up the ghost in our backyard doing what he loved best. Sleeping on the lawn. I hope you understand I was just trying to get a chuckle out of you during a sad time. I do realize that it's no fun considering your options for an animal that is part of the family. I think your decision should be based on whatever's most comfortable for Loopy. Good luck bro. When she goes she'll have a big dopey chow-lab mix to look after her.
