I never realized how messed up the king/queen deal was. | It's even less interesting than that. There are other princes, it's just that this one is in direct line to the throne. And this child, presuming there's still a monarchy by then, has three people ahead of them in the queue.
So really it's a story about someone who will be mostly irrelevant to the average person's life... at some point way in the future.
Exciting news, isn't it?

I never realized how messed up the king/queen deal was. | United Kingdom, not just England.
It's a great shame. Prince Charles (now in his 60s) is next in line to the throne, then Prince William. The newborn child will be third in line to the throne.
The great downside there is that it moves Prince Harry to 4th in line to the throne. I think he'd be an awesome king, he really seems to have taken after his grandad
I'll also say that the Royals don't really have an influence in how the country is run beyond the head calling for political elections.

I never realized how messed up the king/queen deal was. | To me they matter less than the pregnant lady I see in the grocery store. One is a person that I can interact with, the other is a person that is 4 hours of flight away from me.
Queen of the UK you say? Titles don't matter during the zombie apocalypse I say!
It is nothing like seeing Billy Sheehan live (which I have, twice ) and giving my bass to my old neighbour and watch him play.
ps: I do pity the money spent on all these royal stuff all around the world. Think about the lives that could be saved with that money but nooooooooooo teh princess is pregnant!!!

The entire family is about as British as the current heir to the throne of Romania

The entire family is about as British as the current heir to the throne of Romania | It's the nature of Royal families really, inbreding of the 'elite' from country to country, often for political reasons.
At least the last few generations have been British born, not that it makes a great difference in any of it anyway! Quote:
