Due to recent events in my life, I have to ditch the car I've had since high school, over 10 years. It's a 2000 V6 Mustang, dark green. Wow, you might say. That's an amazing piece of machinery. Ok, probably not... But to me it's no ordinary v6 Mustang. It runs a 13 second 1/4 mile for one, without the aid of any supercharger/turbo/nitrous/fairy dust... I've spent quite a few "American Fender Jazz Basses" on this turd, much to the confusion (and even anger) of some fellow V8 Mustang owners. I've learned how to replace cylinder heads, install rear end differentials, and do just about any car maintenance procedure with this car. And in the same spirit, I've broken more parts than I care to mention. Surprised quite a few "big brother" Mustangs at the track, got lots of good ribbing from the rest of em. The Mustang community is much like the bass community here and it's been a pretty cool experience.
The same car that took me and my future wife to our high school prom, took my first child to day car last week. Sure, it's a 10 year old car now, kinda creaky in the suspension, and she's not quite as peppy as she's always been, but it's still sad to see her go. So many fun days, a few not so good, and a couple really bad ones. I guess life moves on.
I'd like to say I'm really going to miss it all, but then I'd be lying. I'm picking up a 305 hp 2011 Mustang V6 on Saturday.
Anyways, just thought I'd share. |

Its material. It can't feel a thing, it doesnt feel like its losing anything at all.
This reminds me of that old IKEA commercial, where they show a desk lamp sitting out on the sidewalk, in the rain, with some really sad sounding music playing. It gets you involved emotionally, making you feel bad for the lamp. Then a Sweedish guy walks into the frame and says 'You prawbably feel bad for dis lamp. Why? Its only a lawmp, it cannot feel anysing. And besides, the new lawmp iz much bettahr.'

Lol I got super attached to that car, but I had to sell it. I was getting to many dumb tickets and it was way to much maintenece. I dont know, it feels like when you sell a car or bass etc. that you have grown attached to, you feel like the memories will leave with it. |

4.10's
Few bolt ons
slicks
Pulled 220hp at 6100 or so. Torque was low, I think 205 or so, but was very flat, I think 3000-5800 was within a few lb-ft. Really didn't take much money to do that if I'd spent a little wiser.
If you want to talk serious v6's, there's a guy that hit 11's all motor. The fastest v6 I know of is a high 9 second turbo that's pretty serious. Not many people take on the v6 as a viable track car so the parts aren't easy to find, but it was a fun challenge and it earns a little respect when they see the little turd make funny v6 noises down the track and pull a v8 time. |

We have a guy at our local track that runs mid 11's with a 4.3 V6 in a Vega....... all throttle and no bottle. Damn impressive if you ask me. |

I thought not. 13.9 sounds better.

Before you beat him up over this, any V6 can that runs any sort of 13 second quarter mile time is damn impressive in my book, plus he has timeslips to back it up. |

Slicks helped. 1.89 60ft is getting off the line pretty hard. Especially when I'd been running 2.3s most of the time. I bogged pretty hard with the slicks though. I think I ran hard up to the 60ft line and just ran into a wall. Needed about 40-50 more horsepower to really fly off the line. |
