Lost our cat today

Our big Tabby cat, Merry, died and went to kitty heaven today. Our neighbors were walking when they came across his lifeless body by the side of the street. We all think he was probably hit by a car sometime last night and died from his injuries. We're all heartbroken, he was such a good cat. Quiet, loved to sleep, spent most of his time outdoors, would bring us "special gifts" once in a while (which we could do without!), never needed a litter box. He loved to come with us when we'd walk our dog, and people would be amazed that a cat would forrow us around the neighborhood. Our neighbors who found him offered to bury him in their rock garden, which was very nice of them. He was my daughter's cat, she named him after Merry from the Lord of the Rings, she'll be devastated when we tell her.

RIP, Merry. We love you, and you'll be missed.

my adopted "elderly" cat passed on earlier this year and though we weren't together long, i miss her still. my neighbors were negleting her and she followed me home one day and never left. i tried to give her back but every morning she would greet me at the door.
after i nursed her back to health, she gained weight and often took walks with me and my son's mini-pincher!
i hope Merry and Cali are happy in Kitty Heaven,.. (good luck with your daughter)

Condolences - it's tough to lose a friend, furry or otherwise.
And a cat who follows you for walks is a special cat - we have one (my son's cat) and it's really a great trait.
RIP Merry, may the mice be fat and slow where you are now.

If you get another, please reconsider letting it run loose.

Sorry for your loss. I've several cat-shaped holes in my heart, and I still miss all of them. She'll be waiting for you on the other side of that 'rainbow bridge' to use the sometimes overused term...
