LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT - DOES IT EXIST?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm talking about mates, life partners, not an object ...I did fall for my bass at first sight

Does anyone have a love at first sight story to share?
Do you believe in soul mates?

I'd like to hear from anyone who has a story about meeting their life mate and how long you've been together.
Let's say I'm doing a little research and bass players are my research pool. WHY NOT? Love issues? TO THE INTERNET !

ANYONE?

yes, I know the jokesters will be posting too....but seriously I'd like to hear some heart songs.

EDIT -
here's some info I got from searching the web
food for thought.......

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT-
an emotional condition whereby a person feels romantic attraction for a stranger on the first encounter with the stranger. The term may be used to refer to a mere sexual attraction or crush, but it usually refers to actually falling in love with someone literally the very first time one sees him or her, along with the deep desire to have an intimate relationship with that person. The stranger may or may not be aware that the other person has any such notion, and may not even be aware of the other person's presence (such as in a crowded place). Sometimes two people experience this phenomenon towards each other at the same time, usually when their eyes meet.

Many people dream about looking across a crowded room and seeing the love of their life. "Love at First Sight" is a well documented historical phenomenon. Caesar and Cleopatra acted as man and wife from almost the first moment they met one another. Once Czar Nicholas met Lady Alexandra, he - in an uncharacteristic act of stubbornness - refused to consider marrying anyone else. After Queen Victoria met Albert, she became determined to marry him. The same with King Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine, King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, the list goes on.

Through the lens of reincarnation, soul mates are seen as very bonded souls who choose to unite as a couple again and again. They have shared many lives and experiences and both wish to continue the relationship as different people. The deep understanding that exists between these two souls is a bonus that helps both partners grow and develop. They help each other reach their full potential more easily than first time partners.

No. I view all people other than my family as transient. I keep friends, make new ones and replace old ones as our lives converge or diverge. People come and go. I have needs and desires and find people who fulfill them.

Edit: I should specify that this doesn't mean I don't see the potential for lifelong friends or mates, but rather that I think people are too hung up on the "best friends for life" thing. Same goes for relationships. If it's run it's course, move on.

Hi.

Even though I believe in soul-mates and love at first sight, I'll be on the bottom of Your pool. No such luck for me . Not yet anyway, I like to think. I do have a few miles on me and I hope there will be quite a few ahead of me so there's still hope.

Regards
Sam

I've found that it's usually a one way street.

Depends on your definition of love.

IMHO I do not "believe" in love at first sight, but scientificly it does exist.

It's human nature, although many people will claim they don't care about appearance, it's animal instinct.

Love at first sight can be romantic.
But I think there isn't much chance for a happy ending.

Getting to know a person better is always better for a long healthy relation.
There's also nothing wrong with a short and intense relation.

There's love at first sight, and there's oh-yeah-I-want-to-perform-reproductive-actions-with-that at sight.

That's what I felt when I first saw pics of the new Ibanez SR7VIISC.

As for "soul mates", I definitly believe in that concept. I believe that we meet up with the same souls in each life we live. They are not likely to be the same people from life to life. More like the one that is your brother in this life may be your daughter in the next, etc...

infatuation at first site exists and can feel like love and later turn into love i suppose.

love at first site on the other hand seems pretty far fetched.
to really love someone you have to at least know em

pretty interesting posts so far..thanks for that.

have you ever felt that you knew someone you just met? I'm thinking a belief in past lives would have to come into play..

It exists, I guess. It is not the norm, and not what you should actually *expect*. But it happens.
