Moderators, please discourage, ban, explode any more "For Metal" threads!
It is becoming aversive!
I hate that I even typed the words!

I beg of you.

What's good for death metal ain't necessarily what's good for glam metal. Just sayin.

It really is. Every day there is a new thread on it, whether it being serious or someone making fun of it. It's just not funny at all any more.

If there was a way to ignore threads that have a group of words in the title, "for metal" would surely be on my list.

You can always, uh, you know, not pay them any attention. What you find aversive others might find as enjoyable. Lots of people love a long running joke.

We should probably also get rid of all comedians you find unfunny, as well as any programming on TV that you personally do not care for. While we're at it we might as well alter all of our laws in order to suit your needs above all...

You do realize that metal is a rebellious branch of music (like jazz, blues and rock before it) and any heartburn it causes to people who don't like it only strengthens its cause? Remember how the PMRC boosted record sales with their little "parental advisory" stickers?

My advice is to ignore those threads. I do and I'm a self-proclaimed metalhead.

Really? Where are these threads? I've been a member (ok, "user") for at least a year, lurking for three. I have seen the references to old threads, heard the jokes and puns, but can't remember a real thread on the subject. I may have seen a joke thread started on the subject, but I would rather see this one banned because of the OP's whining. It's not that bad. This thread sucks, which will make me check on it more.

SHUT UP AND PLAY YER GUITAR!

Dear Mr cranky pants;

Using the terms "whining" "this thread sucks" and "shut up" makes this the most negative response that I have seen in a long time. I never imagined that someone would become so impassioned over my little post. Really, how dare I be so outrageous.

I may have commented on a posting trend that I am tired of- albeit in an overdramatic way- (I was actually being sarcastically overblown on purpose, but I guess that didn't translate) but I have never attacked someone personally, as you seem to do with such ease.

Congratulations, you really are very clever.

Happy New Year.

p.s. I hope you don't let this thread stop you from becoming a Supporting Member of Talk Bass, now that you have clearly stopped lurking.

Damn...and here I was FINALLY thinking that there would be a thread on everyone's favorite metal.... I really like brass, but it's an alloy. So it's not perfect but soooooo shiny. Copper is neat though. Sorta shiny and orangey.
What's your favorite metal?
