MAKE THE TOURISTS GO AWAY

It is summer, in Washington DC. They are everywhere.

Middle and High school kids, mostly, Thousands of them.

And they all converge on the food court where I usually get lunch.

I want my workplace back.

Arrrghhh!!! That drives me crazy. I wish metro were a little more intimidating to folks from the flyover states.

I was a tourist too when I went last year. Forgive us.
What is it with that HUGE escalator? that freaked me out the one time I had to go on it.

Yes, this is bad. They should have 3 second trigger trap doors on the left side.

Reminds me though, I ran into Jorma Kaukonen on the escalator in the Air & Space Museum in DC.

It isn't that you're wrong for being a tourist-we're all tourists somwehre. But when you go somewhere, you need to learn the local rules.

DC: Don't stand on the left side of the escalator
NY: Don't stop on the sidewalk to stare at large buildings

There are many more rules for many more places. But I only posted DC because I live here and NY bcause my g/f lives there and I spend a great deal of time there-enough that I feel semi-local when I'm there.

I'm hoping there won't be too many tourists this year on the Oregon coast with the high price of gas.

You guys comin' down here in those gigantic RV monstrosities. Save those things for the tour!!

TIP: When you come to a passing lane: Move to the right please and don't speed up! Let us get by. :jeez:

Otherwise -- enjoy!! Now you see why I moved here!

You DCers are amateurs when it comes to dealing with touristas.

Try living in Orlando, FL for a while to get a taste of true pain.

Here's one lovely example I witnessed:

I was driving west on I-4 in the Disney/Kissimmee area one afternoon, an FHP patrol car was on the side of the road doing his job up ahead. As I'm coming closer, I watch a vehicle start to slow, and then STOP in a traffic lane (on the freakin' INTERSTATE! ) right next to him.

Of course the vehicle had "out of state" license plates (in an effort to not offend anyone, said state will be left out of the story, to protect the innocent).

This essentially stops traffic.

I see the FHP patrolman step out of his vehicle, motion to the side of the road, the stationwagon pulls over in front of him, and he begins writing a ticket. Every person applauded as we drove by.

That is ONE story among thousands.

Don't even try to beat an Orlando resident, present or past, you will lose on tourist stories.

I lived for many years in San Francisco and you could always spot tourists because they were in shorts and t-shirts freezing their asses off.

That's one benefit of the high gas prices. The old farts and tourists can't afford to make the trip to Florida I'm glad they only came as far south as Washington DC

(There's a reason I refuse to ever move back to that place, actually SEVERAL reasons, but the tourists are one of the big reasons...)

they need to widen the aisles between slot machines in the Vegas casinos,
'cause the tourists are getting soo F#%*!^@ fat, I can't get my gear to the stage.
and they just stand there like lost cows, staring mindless into the machine...

and don't get me started on California drivers...

OTOH if the tourists go away...so does my high paying gig

Yep!
Niagara Falls is like that.
On most days in the summer, it'll take 3 hours to get down to work, where it's usually a 10 minute drive.

You can spot the tourists in the falls, cause it's Summer, about 35-40 degrees, and they're wearing sweaters.

Also, but the most ignorant questions in the world
"What time do they shut off the Falls?"
"How many barrels of Dye are used to dye the Falls at night?"
THEY'RE LIGHTS!!! THERE'S A GIANT BUILDING ACROSS THE ROAD!! YOU CAN'T MISS IT!!

I HATE TOURISTS!!!!

Some stadiums in Asia have a different "Asian" and "American" audience capacity :P
