man, I am not in a good spot here

I live in Wisconsin. well first off, me and my wife had hit some severe finacial difficulties and are going through a bankrupcy, so our availability for funds are quite limited or maybe even non existant at this time, so anyhow driving to work last night in some severe weather conditions 50 mile an hour winds and snow, i hit an ice patch and lost control of my vehicle, went into the ditch and rolled over, totalling my truck leaving it a complete loss. come to find out today, we dropped the collision coverage in order to save a few bucks. I am now without a vehicle, have no re-embursement coming in. and in a finacial situation where just going out and purchasing a new vehicle is very very difficult, not looking for quick fixes here i guess just spilling the beans getting allot of sadness off my chest, what to do next?
i guess the only option i have now is try and trade my 2002 harley sportster in for a vehicle that i can use to get to work and transport my gear to shows. man, this sux!!

Sucks dude. But at least you have a nice bike to move for another ride. Sucks to give up the bike but it's an option.

Sounds like your main options are to keep the bike and not eat or sell/trade the bike and start saving for another.

Sucks man. I hope you're able to overcome these obstacles in short order.

That sux! I hope better things are on the horizon for you!

Here are a few Zen Zingers for ya.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a broken fan belt and leaky tire.

Always remember that you're unique. Just like everyone else.

If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of car payments.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is probably not for you.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably a wise investment.

Some days you're the bug; some days you're the windshield.

It’s always darkest before dawn. So if you're going to steal your neighbor's newspaper, that's the time to do it.

Don't be irreplaceable. If you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted.

Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

Generally speaking, you aren't learning much when your lips are moving.

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Never miss a good chance to shut up.

If your situation is that dire keeping the bike wouldn't even be an option IMHO. My wife and I had similar issues about 9 years ago, if it wasn't a necessity, it got sold or traded for something that was.

We were in debt to the IRS almost $30,000, Just bought a house, bought our first car because I had a good job. I got laid off a month later due to them closing the facility.

We are in good shape now, for the most part. I am finally after 8 years back in a pay bracket I had back then.

Good luck.

ditch the bike, should have been done regardless of the truck incident.

get a car that will get you there for the time being for a couple hundred bucks.

Perhaps it would help to be thankful you can unload the bike; painful as that is, imagine if you didn't have the option at all. Let us know how it goes for you.

Wow, Randy, I'm really sorry to hear this! The old saying "When it rains, it pours" is unfortunately often true. Just keep it together the best you can--and be glad you didn't get hurt in the accident! Things have got to get better from here for you and your wife. I'm sending good thoughts and prayers your way, Lakland bro.

ETA: Dang, I'm sorry I got your name mixed up. It's been a while since I've seen you around.

Charge those guys at OCC a little extra on the next couple paint jobs. I'm sure they can afford it.
