Manual. Regardless of traffic conditions.

Manual if the car has a real engine. Automatic if I'm just driving around doing everyday stuff.

I learned to drive on automatics. In theory I can drive a manual, but I'm not good at it.

I voted "manual" becuase that's what I would prefer to drive - if that stick is attached to something fun to drive.

However, in my daily driving an automatic transmission makes more sense, so that's what I've had for my past 3 cars.

You are never truly in control of a vehicle unless it's a manual transmission. I've always driven manuals by preference, including my 1958 Fiat roadster, '66 GTO, '81 Citation X-Model, '77 Monza Spyder, and my '71, '76, '82 and 1983 Datsun Z-cars. My wife loves her '94 BMW 325i 5-speed, just as she loved her Audi 90 Quattro 5-speed before that.

That said, there are purposes for which an automatic is a better choice. Two examples are police/emergency vehicles, and mini-vans in which you're transporting the family.

Manuals are cheaper and from what I understand....easier to service.

I prefer manual, I like to be in more control of my car.

HOWEVER, on the other hand, suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome, my daily driver needs to be an auto. Any additional vehicles will be stick.

Manual in a car, but I prefer automatic in my truck.

Eh, Jersey traffic at rush hour ain't pretty either, and I did it in a delivery truck with a fried clutch.

Needless to say, I don't feel that would deter me from driving stick if I had two good wrists.

Thats gotta be hard I agree, but it sounds like Jersey seems to have a "traffic" to drive in.

In the long run, this led people to carry guns and shoot others with the sound of a horn, driving people mad.(I don't think It'd change if everyone drowe automatic though)
We no longer argue people in the traffic, you can be shot any time.Even Iraq is safer then Istanbul traffic.

Manual, all day, every day. And Seattle's rush hour traffic ain't a pretty sight, let me tell you.

Manual is just comfortable enough for me that it's easier to drive that way than in an automatic. Not shifting distracts me.

Auto's are for girls.

PS this poll should be public so we can name and shame the women.

Especially if you drift backwards into the Puget Sound.
