Marinara Vs Pesto sauce

Howdy friends :)

Whats your preference, marinara or pesto sauce? For me, pesto is starting to overtake my preference for marinara sauce.

I prefer having pesto with a friend.

Lumps of pesto on pizza FTW.

Considering your sig line, I'm not surprised! ;)

Yeah, I love pesto. One of my favorite quick and easy recipes:

Take a premade pizza crust (Boboli or similar) and smear pesto over it the way you would normally use red sauce. Then slice up a tomato and lay the slices on until they cover the pizza. Then top with shredded parm, and bake according to the directions on the crust package.

I in all seriousness, like the carrot sauce/dressing the best of the three. The carrot dressing at my work is probubly the best carrot dressing (home made) ive ever had. In fact so good that other restaurants are stealing it and calling it there own. So pretty much we had to stop making them in bulks and only put them in small cups in individual salads.

Edit: I don't know why theese people are trying to use a spoon to eat a salad

Pesto

Pesto all the way. My kids favorite meal is grilled chicken & sauteed mushrooms in pesto with bowtie pasta. Mine too.

Care to share the recipe? Sounds good....

thats a tuff question. i do like good red sauce. pesto is killer on a pizza crust. not listed is alfredo sauce but i dont care much for that anyway. gotta go with carrots on this one.

Really depends on the day, and which restaraunt I'm in. Some are better at pesto, some are better at marinara.

Pesto is actually not a sauce, is it ?.....seems more like a condiment to me

My wife and I live walking distance from a great farmers market. Every fall we buy a lot of basil and make enough pesto for the whole year. We put it in mason jars and freeze it. We can usually do the whole thing in one or two afternoons.
The jars of pesto also make nice gifts.

Joe Gress 03-11-2013 05:04 PM

Pesto by far.

MatticusMania 03-11-2013 05:12 PM

I havent had enough pesto to prefer it to marinara, but I dont eat a lot of marinara, either.
I tend to make a tomato based sauce full of various veggies.

Marinara is great, pesto is phenomenal.

Bolognese > Pesto > Marinara

jrthebassguy 03-11-2013 10:17 PM

A well made marinara the bomb! But Pesto is great in its own right though.

mellowinman 03-11-2013 10:22 PM

There's a guy I know who makes the best Pesto sauce, and his name is Basil.
