I suspect a lot of the records set during that time period by various players will eventually end up with asterisks besides the data. I think there were an awful lot of players using 'performance enhancing drugs' during those years.

I mean... duh. | To be honest, I'm not even sure that's news. The only aspect of this mildly interesting is that I heard his name dropped as a possible DH on the radio the other day. If there's any truth to that, I suspect this "announcement" has something to do with that.

He claims he only took them to avoid injury, not get stronger. That is asinine. Not getting injured and recovering quickly from injury meant he could work out more and get stronger. It also meant that he had at least five more years in baseball than he would have had without drugs.
PEDs were the difference between McGwire being a multiple All-Star, and a potential HOF player. Without drugs, he would have probably had between 380-450 career homeruns instead of nearly 600.
