Marketing calls

how do you deal with them? I used to ignore all the numbers that I didn't recognize. I now find it more amusing to pickup, wait until they start talking and then interrupt by yelling "NO INGLES!"

Funny thing is that then they start asking: "is there someone in the house whom I can speak to?" ...what the heck part of "NO INGLES" don't they understand?!?! funny stuff.

I ignore them too and will report them to the "don't call list" if they call more than a couple of times.

I'd love to try this approach if I could pull it off.

I strike up the same sort of conversation i would have with my neighbour.

Or this line works very well: I knew you were going to call [insert persons name]... the men inside my head told me.

I like to do one of the following: try to sell them my snow tires, pretend that I am Amish and that it is against my religion to own anything that they are trying to offer me, tell them about my day or anything that randomly pops into my head. Usually quite funny. I wish that I got more telemarketers calling me, only happens one or two times a month.

I actually am a Telephone Survey rep, and I used to be a Telemarketer. The best thing you can is say "put me on do not call list" if its a telemarketing call. If its a survey, take the survey, seriously they usually are not very long and after a completion is recorded your name goes instantly off the list. The do not call list applies only to marketing, not to surveys, however we can put you on a No call list, but it takes 2-3weeks to process, so just take the survey bro.

I listen for a few minutes and then excuse myself from the conversation politely.

I usually answer the phone by saying, "Thank you for calling Home Depot. How may I direct your call?" They usually say they didn't know this number is a business number and they will remove it from their list.
