I wouldn't marry that first one again.

From the simple standpoint that for the generation most likely tested for longevity, marriage was still perfectly normal and lifetime singles were either rare or died before they would have married. So the samples are inherently rigged because of a false causation.
Hard to say without a good look at their data but eh, pop culture trivia 'science'.

Mortality hits and they realise they have other people in the world they want to be around for other than living for themselves, they want to be around for their partner and children. They also (generally) want to set a good example for their kids etc.
I know plenty of guys who've given up extreme sports because they got married or had kids. Or at the very least participate far less often, either due to time constraints or for safety reasons. Wifies might ruin all the fun sometimes, but they do a pretty good job of stopping their partners making stupid decisions more often than not.
I'd also think that having someone for emotional support, somebody to talk to etc. is likely good when it comes to longevity also, somebody to calm the other half down before they do something stupid, talk to rather than drinking their sorrows, relieve stress, help with depression.
And the point about being forced to go to the doctor more often is probably a very valid one..

But I want to be around with her so I avoid taking dumb risks. It's my choice. I cannot imagine having kids and not want to be around them as long as I can.
I'm really surprised to read about guys blaming the ladies for their own choices. |

What flipped that switch? Just something I truly want to get insight from....I have close friends with the same mindset and they cannot seem to give an answer with any more depth than "I dont like / cannot stand"... don't know why that bothers me...not passing judgement tho, just askin. | I'm honestly not sure. Even looking back at my own childhood (which was very healthy) I'd never want one of me. Lol. It's truly not a conscious decision. I've never liked little kids. Even in my teens and early 20's I knew I'd never want any of my own.
To clarify, I'm talking about children, not adolescents. I work with adolescents every day, and I (generally speaking) enjoy my work.

I'm really surprised to read about guys blaming the ladies for their own choices. | Maybe it could be the basic idea that a mate contributes to good mental health.
I always believed there was a reason it went "healthy in mind and body"....

Better to take care of our health and marry or not based on what we think is our best for each of us. The same with kids. Some of us want kids some don't. I would think that making choices that create misery in our lives could have an ever greater detrimental effect on hour health than being married or not.
