Done with the VS. games. Old Street Fighter II pro here, and I need all 6 buttons, and I need them to do the same things they've always done. Also, 1-on-1 is best, all this teamwork and air juggles and flashy 900-hit combos are overdone.

Give me Street Fighter Alpha 3, any character, and it's on like Donkey Kong. Otherwise, Sorry bud.

(FWIW, I've actually competed at tournaments, came in 3rd in a regional thing back in the late 90's, and am considered one of the best at SF in the Hampton Roads area - not bad for a 30-something hack bassist!)

AWwwwwwwww, c'mon!! You can't tell me that the flashiness doesn't have you a little interested! The traditional Street Fighter games (SF2 thru SSF4) are too tough for me, lol. Your command input has to be PRECISE to get moves off and the combo system for them feels so different from other similar games (the crossovers, EX series, and even Alpha). I can't hang, lol! I've had just bout every crossover with the exception of the first Capcom vs. SNK and they are much more my speed. Quick, flashy, lots of colors, air combos, and the magic series'! I've been playing Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom all week in preparation for tomorrow! Can't wait!!!

I feel like the flashiness takes away from the substance of the game.

I mean, yeah, having someone pull at 3 or 4 hit combo, pop you up in the air for another 3 or 4 hits, followed by one of the eight 20-hit super combos available to them is flashy, and great for the "oooh, shiny" crowd, but I want to have to be precise. There is far more satisfaction (to me) in pulling off one of the standing three hit combos in one of the SFII games than in that 20-hit button mashing fury in the current offerings.

You have to remember, I "grew up" on straight up Street Fighter II: The World Warrior. It was slow, but you HAD to be precise. You had to time everything just so, to know your opponent's strong and weak points, even WHO you were playing and HOW they played. Now, it seems like the whole point is to just get that combo started.

SFIV and SSFIV don't feel right to me, either. Great gameplay, great graphics, but I totally feel ya on the timing - things changed up just enough to make it difficult for me. I still play the heck out of it, but nothing (IMO) will ever top SFA III.
