Yall feel it? It happened at about 5am and was centered in Gaithersburg.
I played a show lastnight in DC and didn't get home until almost 3... so i slept through it. Ironically, i DID wake up when my phone vibrated with a news break ABOUT the Earthquake.

It woke me and my 15month old son up, but we both got back to sleep. No damage.
Sounded like a deep warbling oscillation accompanied by the bed shaking, which was odd because the Mrs. was out of town.

Edit: Here's an eyewitness report, from the Wash. Post. Note how the wife is quick to blame it on the husband, ha ha...
"Dean Miletich, of Frederick. Md. told The Post's Jonathan Forsythe: "I was taking out the trash right around 5 a.m. And when I came back into the garage, everything on the shelves were shaking, especially a step ladder that rattled against the side wall. It sounded like a deep rumble. When I came back inside, my wife had woken up and asked me, 'What did you do?'."

Ahahaha... that quote is awesome!
It's all ANYONE is talking about in the office. Everyone's been getting calls from family members seeing if they're ok, haha.
Where were you at in DC? We played at the Black Cat. Kentlands freaks me out a bit... it has a Stepford Wives vibe.

You know when it snows in LA or SF for like 5 minutes and it's the talk of the town for a day or two while other parts of the country regularly get feet per year? It's kind of like that. Let us all bask in our glow of disbelief for a couple days.
I lived in SF and Santa Cruz for about 10 years and they were frequent. Many of them felt like a delivery truck hit the building or something. One in Santa Cruz (Aptos really) almost through me out of bed to the floor at night. That was only 4.6 but the fact that my house was on stilts over a gulch in the redwoods and I was damn near on the epicenter (this was Loma Prieta again) made it really violent.

I know the rarity, hence the hiding smiley faces.
We had a thunderstorm yesterday, first one in years, actual thunder. Sort of like the EC earthquake in reverse. Next I'm expecting humidity, no wait, today IS muggy??? If I see a mosquito, I'm outta here. |

Not the kind of place you'd expect an earthquake, that's for sure
I wonder how many of those crappy Toll Brothers condos in Monkey Village fell down
