me and my bass was in vehicle accident...

Sign in to disble this ad
It happened about 2:50 AM Thursday morning,I left the club (play bass and sing karaoke) and then went to Walmart for last min. Thanksgiving stuff, and then when I was on the way home, I was sitting at a red light, and looked in my rear view mirror, then out of nowhere I saw a pickup truck coming. I didn't have time to react..he slammed the crap outta my van pushing me into the intersection. He hit me so hard that I (thank God I wore seatbelt) went forward and hit the steering wheel with my knees and then back so hard, it bent my seat back perm. (see picture). The drunk bastard got out, hollared at me if I was ok..I was like "heck no I am not okay! My van is f***d up now!!" I was fumbling for my cell phone to call help, I couldn't dial, I was shaking so much. I hit a number and it was my boyfriend's. He is the bass player and DJ/KJ at the club I just left (plays guitar on karaoke nights), and lived closest to where I was wreaked. He came right away. I called 911 too. The man who hit my van took off. Probably drunk..anyways, while waiting for help to arrive, I reached back to the back seat and felt for my bass..I had her laid on my back seat and covered with blankets. I had her lying with strings faced up, and so I am used to feeling that one top part of the bass. I didn't feel it, I nearly screamed thinking she was ruined. When my boyfriend came, he checked and lo and behold, she had just flipped over-strings facing down!
I couldn't start the van b/c of that safety mechanism switch, so it had to be towed. The thing that is, I had JUST took it off of full coverage like two mths ago (only had liability), to save money..but the uninsured motorist covered it b/c it was a hit and run, so I lucked up!
I am probaby gonna go to get checked cause I still have muscle spasms..I was worse tho..had minor whiplash and was more stiff. bruised on the back of head and under knees. Thank God I am alive!
Here are a few pics of what my van ended up looking like.

Basses and cars can be replaced - Get checked out and make sure you're OK.

Best wishes

Hope you feel better and please go get checked out by a doctor. I'm not certain, but I think your insurance will pay for reasonable medical bills. Getting a check up after a car accident like this seems pretty reasonable to me, especially if you are having neck pain, muscle spasms and other problems.

Did the cops catch up to the lowlife who hit you?

Sorry to hear about this.
I had a friend that had a very similar thing happen to her last Saturday.
Stupid idiots. I hope they nail him to the damn wall, and let you have at him.

Upon seeing the pictures, I was thinking "How fast do you have to hit such a small tree to smash a car this way?"

Hi.

Glad to hear You're OK, but get a full medical exam anyway, it might well be worth it (I should know ).

Hope the cops find the bastard.

11 responses and no one has said that it should be "My bass and I were in a vehicular accident."

It's good you weren't hurt badly enough to have to be transported via ambulance, but you should still see a doctor anyway.

I don't know what intersections are like where you are, but MANY around here have cameras they use for things like identifying people who run red lights. If that intersection has one the police should be able to go back to the video and get a look at the guy and the van.

Best of luck tracking this guy down.

You should get your back checked out. From looking at that seat, that can't be good.

Yep. As someone who has battled with back pain on and off for most of his life, you can't be too careful with back injuries.
