I've actually almost smashed things when these commercials come on. I've turned the channel almost every time, I refuse to listen to them. I've plugged my ears. I've screamed.

One time I grabbed the remote and reflexively threw it at the tv instead of using it to hit the mute button like I intended to do.
Some people are just noisy eaters. I can handle folks crunching things as long as they aren't taking huge bites so that they have to suck in gulps of air through their mouth in order to breath while they eat. It's like some people try to drown themselves when they eat.

Anyway, I will look into the younglings nutritional dealio. The wife is fine, just unaware maybe. | Actually eating a ton of fruits and vegetables is not necessarily good for you. Many fruits are sugar or carb dominant, as are certain vegetables and nuts, and a few other things you wouldn't think of.
I'm not saying you have a poor diet, but the idea that a bunch of fruit all day is good for you is actually not entirely true. I hear this crap all the time, as the rest of my immediate family has started diets and dieting classes from this team of former Stanford doctors. I know many diets are BS or sound corny, but from what I've read it seems like these folks have science on their side. I was reading some of their literature and it's quite interesting. |

They have so many of those commercials - I cannot fathom how they were able to turn their ears off of the horridly obnoxious crunching sounds. I'm generally not affected or irritated by sound at'all but those commercials are cringing.

Me too. I can't stand open mouth chewing. Crunching doesn't bother me, it's the wet, masticating sounds. Like mashed potatoes and stuffing, that kind of sound. Makes me want to murder the person for being so rude.

I used to be like that until I worked on getting unstressed. I still don't like it when someone chews with their mouth open.
A lot of people have anxiety and aren't even aware of it, I sure wasn't.

Throwing remote controls at TVs, running out of a room, wanting to murder people. These are not normal responses to most stimuli. Certainly not crunching of chips. It may not be my favorite thing, but I never thought of throwing a remote or running. Not normal. Just sayin. Get to a the rapist...... I mean therapist quickly.

That part Im comfortable with. I have not thrown a TV remote in recent memory.

Same deal w/a stranger vs wife chewing- I think I'd deal w/it better from anyone else, not sure why. I have to believe I've heard others chew their food rudely and not had the same urge or I'd be at least a bit more on edge a lot of the time. I dunno... Anxiety/stress? Perhaps... If one doesn't feel either of these to some small extent then I would really wonder.

If your bass fell off it's stand and the neck cracked, would you scream and yell or would you have a natural, slightly upset uneasy feeling for a while?

On that note, my sixer- a Stambaugh- fell face-first onto concrete at an outdoor show; although only the B-string tuner was damaged, before finding out I didn't really freak too severely. Strangely, big things don't usually bother me as much as small stuff. My father is like this, and there are a few behaviors that make him nuts. But he's 89, FWIW

Easier to throw label on it and then lean on the label than it is to do the work, it's becoming the American way
This could enrage some: It's like alcoholism; It doesn't exist until you add alcohol?
I have two doctors in my family and great respect for them, their training and their opinion on this. Yet I stand firm that alcoholism is another label to mask the real reason. My step dad and just a month ago a good friend both died from "alcoholism" they didn't want to work on their crap. I'm sure they did become addicted at some point, and maybe some have a tendency to very quickly, however, if they never drank would they still be alcoholics?
You can quote me any thing you can Google and that won't change it. We're more in control than we want to think because if we realized that fact we would have to put responsibility upon ourselves
People have several reasons for what ails them and not everyone has the same reason for their "disease" or "disorder"
Of course I'm not saying there are not real diseases and real disorders, just not as many as we lean on
Wouldn't it be wild if we actually could do something about our life and our crap?
We can
