It seems as though they can't spell it though.
My college has a NORML chapter that mainly champions for those who require it medically. I guess they can disband now.
I think its a big development, but if the mods don't like this, and feel its against the rules, feel free to remove it.

The hard thing is of course, if you forbid MJ use for recreational purposes, but allow it for medical reasons, there will always be a black market, bending of the rules and so on. Maybe it can be a first step towards a more liberal (and effective, in my book) drugs policy ? If not, how is 'medical reasons' defined? |

The law how it is now allows people to pretty much own a reasonable personal amount (I don't know many who need more than ounce for themselves) and not smoke it in public.
I don't see a problem with not allowing people to take bong rips in Central Park.
The fact that the Rockefeller laws changed in March, and now medical use is approved, is a big step. To what, I don't know.

honestly we who use cannabis have been dealing with ******** laws for a long time now, so even though it seems like a retarded and counter-intuitive law, this new decrim situation really lowers the stakes on something that should not be a high stakes game in the first place.
anyways, congratulations. it's another step toward re-legalization.
you can help speed up the process by ignoring the unconstitutional laws currently in place and smoking ganja every day. |

MJ is wrongly classified, and is shown to have some medical benefits in pain relief situations. Of course, there are far more folks who use it as a de facto anti-depressant recreationally, despite it being classified as a depressant by some, and a hallucinogen by others.
Legalize, tax, regulate...what's not for the gub-ment to love about that? There are several demographic groups that are able to bend lawmaker's ears too much to keep MJ illegal yet, much of them from the law enforcement and prison guard lobbies. Decriminalization is seen as a threat to their jobs.

I think this a good first step. But, patients are prevented from home cultivation, and are limited to "life-threatening" disabilities; not insomnia or stress.
I'm surprised prohibition has lasted this long, but it seems people are coming back to their senses. |

Not very well thought out too. It did lead to someone planting seeds in the flower-bed in front of Oslo's main police station, though. Took some time before they relalised what the plants was and removed them |
