Mic not Mike

I mean you can spell it however you want. But, does it set anyone else's OCD off when someone spells it mike? Not that it really matters. The point gets across either way. I just wondered if I am the only one that it bothers.

But if they asked for your PI number you'd start out...

... and never finish.

I am totally with you!

This is, for some reason, one of my pet peeves. It is a "Mic"rophone not a "Mike"rophone.

Clearly you are not the only bothered by it. There are bigger things out there, but I feel your pain.

I HATE HATE HATE when someone pulls across me up at an intersection, no signal, full stop, looks both ways, THEN flips on the signal & goes left in front of me.

IDIOT- enter the intersection w/a plan, and be willing to share it w/the entire party.
I do love semi-related thread tangenting though.

Or how about when you lay down at night, and think about peeing? Then you cannot go to sleep until you get out of bed and try to pee again, even though you did right before you got in bed..... No?.... Me either

This so reminds me of a thread in a different forum titled, "Register your insignificant pet peeves here..." It got a TON of posts! Okay, here's mine...I hate it when people use an apostrophe when the word is plural. For instance - writing "apple's" on a box of apples. Unless the box belongs to Gwyneth Paltrow's daughter, it's WRONG!!! Sorry about getting away from the "mic/mike" subject...I guess derailing a thread bugs people, too!

I spell it "mic", but if I mic something, I say I'm "miking" it. Or past tense, "miked." I can only envision mice when I see "micing." You know, like diced mice.

^^^ This. I hate it when someone writes that their cabinet was "miced," or even worse, "mic'd."

Now, gratuitous quotation marks, that's something else. I used to live in an apartment that had a sign in a parking space that said: "NO PARKING". So what do the quotes mean? I always took it to mean that there was ostensibly no parking in that space, but "those in the know" knew it was just a figure of speech, and you actually could park there.

mmm, mouse bacon.

I use "mic", especially since one of our guitarists is named Mike.

So I end up saying "we need to mic Mike".
