Whitlock: If MJ sides with owners, he's a sellout - NBA News | FOX Sports on MSN
Jason Whitlock is not a favorite of mine, but from what I have seen and heard of Michael Jordan, this is believeable.

Promote sport within your local area with local clubs/teams.
IMO of course, I just prefer seeing teams that are made from people local to that area, not the best players that they could afford

He love's playing on controversy (that isn't really there), and fabricating story lines. I can't tell you how many articles I've read of his where he plays a "race card" for the sake of being controversial or edgy.
On a related note Michael Jordan already sold out long ago when he decided to have a clothing/shoe line where the entry level price was $100. Does it make him a crook? Doubtful. |

No one cares much about whether the NBA plays, except the poor folks who make their livings providing stadium services and other NBA-related businesses.

I guess that's one way to really drive your point home...

Clearly that self absorption made him the most spectacular American athlete in the late 20th century, but I just don't think he has ever done anything that did not help himself directly besides the obvious sorts of charity things that all athletes are involved in at one time or another.

He really isn't a great owner either. He was fired at Washington and has made some poor personnel decisions as an executive. |

what we have now is NOT capitalism...it is government interference, picking favorites etc, and everything the GOVERNMENT touches turns to s**t. sort of like King Midas, except with a different product
what say we go back to capitalism, just as an experiment, and see if we can experience to same phenomenon? sort of like Asia has been doing for the past 40 years or so.

i was talking purely about economics. all those people you name assuredly acted out of generous spirit, for the public good... no argument at all. (although I am unclear as to exactly which teachers perished in the service of their country...?)
on the economic front, however, we make the most progress and do the best when government gets out of the way and allows everyone to pursue their own selfish interest.
