Everyone survive OK?
My city is underwater, again. I dodged the big bullet, but not sure I would have if it would have been the foot higher that they predicted. I evacuated most of my gear from the basement last night. Kitties room became the ax refuge...

My familoy and I managed to dodge a tornado or two early Monday morning ourselves!

People are bitching about why it doesn't get warmer but I'm actually glad it's happening gradually (35- to 38-degree highs instead of 50 or 55), cause we've had a lot of snow this winter and all that water has to go somewhere. |

Since my neighborhood is one of the highest points in the city and we're not supposed to get any rain until Saturday I should be fine. I'll snap a pic of the water level if I can when I find a way over the wall. |

It doesn't look like much has changed, but I've only lived here for a year and a half and will move once I'm done with my masters so I can't really comment on the difference. If the floodgates are open I'll snap a picture of the flood lines. |

My house is in a high enough part of Winnipeg that overland flooding isn't a worry, but sewer backup is always a possibility. |

P.S. -25C right now as I type this! I would LOVE it if it was -2F!
Edit: Here, I found some evidence...

I was there about 25 years ago when my high-school class took our "Senior Skip Trip" up there. Nice town. It was my first (and so far only) Canadian exposure. |

It keeps my busy - I make my living (such as it is) playing music here, though I keep telling people I've been trying to get out of the music business for 10 years! (my daughter turns 10 this year)
I just finished my M.A. in September, so who knows, maybe I really will get a real job after all this time... I've never really done anything else since finishing high school (in 1990) so it will be a challenge. |
