Unhappy Migration to

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, TBers from all the world,
Recently i realized that situation here (in Russia) is getting pretty bad, it's really hard to find a job, the only jobs needed are: sales managers of all the kinds.

I am really wanna work in my field (educated as a specialist-engineer in Information Security Systems, i am 23yrs now), 1 year experienced in CCTV, fire-safety, and access-security systems as systems designer, also i have some skills in computer security systems.

So, i decided to migrate, still don't know where to. The only things i know is that it is pretty difficult to migrate without long term experience in your field of knowledge.

TBers from all the world, have you ever migrated anywhere?

I never have, but if you have a degree in engineering, I would suggest looking into Canada.

Canada (Toronto) is a tough market from what my family and friends that live up there are telling me.

mainly because they go out and recruit a lot of immigrants for jobs and it makes the job market extremely tough to break into if you don't have advanced degrees and/or good experience

However I do think it's a pretty great city and if you can get a spot there it's definately worth taking!!

I moved from the UK to the US about eleven years ago. No regrets.

The job market - even in high-tech - is tighter now than it was then, but it's starting to improve a little. The easiest way to come over is as an employee (either H1B or L1 visa) so you need to have something arranged before you move. You can then convert to a permanent resident after a few years.

I would suggest the US if you're country shopping. Alternatively, from what I hear the Czech Republic seems to be a booming place these days, without overly punitive tax laws. That's 3rd hand however, so no guarantees as to accuracy. Dubai is in need of workers, and given the small population imports most of them.

If it wasn't for the asinine gun laws I would seriously consider moving there myself. Since they probably won't be worse than where you're from it might be a decent choice.

Gun laws are not actually that bad, particularly if you are a member of a club.

although the laws for storing them are major overkill, they have to be in a locked box, which cant be moved easily. nobody except for the license holder is allowed to know where the guns are kept, nor where the key is, and the ammuntion must be stored seperatly. although that is only in my current state, interstate there are more relaxed policies, particularly living in rual areas.

To the OP, Dubai is booming at the moment, even with a recession. I know alot of people moving there, particularly Engineers/Architects, they are earning really good money too. Here in Australia there are often jobs in engineering fields also, but if people are leaving here to work in Dubia...

We have different definitions of "not bad" but this is not the time or place.

I'm actually thinking of trying a job in Dubai for a few years once I finish my apprenticeship. For those who work with high rises Dubai is like friggin Disneyland.

Because Toronto and Canada are the same thing.

Last I checked, there was more than one city up here.

Yep, but as far as engineering goes in Toronto, it is booming. The rest of Ontario isn't the greatest, but if you are qualified and are willing to live out in the middle of nowhere, you can find a job.

You KNEW exactly what I was stating, so there was no reason to try and get smart.

We're trying to give someone some suggestions for a life changing decision and you have the gall to try and belittle someone and be sarcastic for making an honest suggestion/observation.

Shame on you.

Hi, topic starter is here again. Thanks for the replies.
Czech Republic is an interesting idea to me. It's a slavic nation, which is a plus (the language won't be a big issue as arabic in Dubai).
And what do you guys think about migration thru University education? How much would it cost to get additional education in Canada, US, Australia, Czech Republic? Does it prohibited in your country to work being a student from foreign state/country?

I've heard that so many people are imported workers in Dubai that the language (especially if you speak English) is not a problem.

A friend in Israel has been trying to get to the US to get his Masters in History for a while now. Apparently scholarships etc have tightened down a lot recently with the recession and all. I believe students are allowed to work in a limited capacity while studying in America, but I'm not sure.
