I have always wondered about this...
Is there any scientific reasoning behind 'not mixing drinks'? People are always saying that you shouldn't, but I've never been able to work out whether there is a genuine reason or whether it is just folklore.
I'm not convinced by it really - I think that it is just more difficult to keep track of what you are drinking if you have loads of different drinks, so you drink more than you should do. If you drink spirits then beer, or beer then spirits, they will all end up in your stomach/bloodstream anyway, so surely it doesn't matter what order you consume them in?
The old thread got closed so I thought I would ask again.

A. Don't drink as much water as I drink alcohol
B. Drink too many sweet mixed drinks. Drinks with a lot of sugary mixes like margaritas and long islands will get you sick because of the high sugar content. Its just like when you were little kid and your mom told you not to eat to much candy or you would get a tummyache. |

^ Another great point.
The only time I was ever sick from a night out drinking was when we had done nothing but drink Jack & Cokes, and Im sure it was the sickening amount of coke over the night that caused the problems!

I do try to only drink one type of drink at a time, just incase.
I dont really see why mixing drink would be bad for you, its just always been a rule in our house that you dont mix grape and grain, so i stick to it.

Beer and Tequilla are about the only two things I can mix but not as much as I used to The ingredients in LI Iced Teas seem to work together but not apart, that my friends IS science |

As a much younger man, I had problems with mixing, but many years of dedicated training has helped me overcome the issue. |

Once an old friend showed up to a gig and bought us a few rounds of tequila shots before our set. I was worthless. After hacking through a few songs, my guitarist told me (a conversation I have no memory of btw) that he looked over at me asked me "So what can you play right now?" I looked at him and smiled and told him "I can play twelve bar blues in G." I then proceeded to start a twelve bar blues jam in E flat, and then without telling everyone in the band switched to playing and singing Gin and Juice. Needless to say we ended that set early. As a rule, I was barred from tequila from that point on. |

Sometimes those ingredients don't get along. It's like if you ate a bag of cheetos flaming hots, a bag of sour patch kids, and three raw eggs.

For some reason I wasn't interested in drinking any of that ethanol stew and I satisfied myself with some beer that I brought with me. My girlfriend, however, drank about six glasses of it over the next two hours and ended up puking the rest of the night. Who would have thought?

Can you not eat a bag of crisps and then some sweets?

I think you'll find the alcohol in wine is significantly different than the alcohol in tequila. Wine goes to the part of your brain that makes you join a jazz trio, play a fretless and wear a sweater with the arms tied around your neck.
Tequila goes to the part of your brain....well, it actually doesn't go to your brain. It goes straight to your nads. The ETOH in Tequila makes you want to start lugging two SVT's, buy a BC Rich that's shaped like an ax and wear sleeveless Lynyrd Skynyrd Tee Shirts. Plus you'll think you can fight, even though you haven't had a fight since 3rd grade.
I drink Tequila.

If I add half a bottle of tequila, It can affect me negatively.
