Monday morning record producer: how would you have done it?

Ever hear a song and wish you could make changes to it? For me (and I know you will cringe,) I would take out the hard pan left/right on a lot of 60's recordings (like The Beatles stuff.)

That's an awful lot of Monday mornings ago. 40 years of technology makes a difference.

Yeah... a lot of their stereo recording are VERY stereo (i.e.) total, major seperation, but it was "the thing" then and production was kinda still in it's infancy during the 60's. Those songs would have a pretty different feel otherwise.

I would get rid of the multiple tracks playing the same thing on a lot of modern recordings. It eats up too much sonic space and there isn't enough "room" for everything to be heard clearly. I would also get rid of the massive amount of compression that producers like to use these days.

Send a message via AIM to WookieeForLife
I'd lessen the reverb.
