Money from nowhere?

I went to check on my bank account online for the first time since I started school in August, just to know how little money I had in there (in checking, savings is a different story). So I have $171.00. Apparently, 3 days ago someone deposited $160 into my bank account. Note that no one other than me knows my account number, my savings balance is still the same, and I haven't visited my bank since August. What should I do? Go to the bank to sort it out? Leave it just to see if they take it out and move it to the right account if it went to the wrong account? Cure GAS pains? Dinner with MAJOR METAL?

The bank will sort it out, but I would still call to ask them about it.

Maybe someone made a donation to you, kind of like George Costanza and his Human Fund.

The bank will discover it. It's not your money, and the best thing to do is notify them.

Happened on my credit card a year or so ago. Someone must have put the wrong number on a payment, and all of a sudden I was a few $100 up. I just ignored it, and a couple of months later they took the cash back. Most annoying thing was they then said I'd missed a payment, even though my account was in credit (according to them) at the time because they took out the cash after sending me a statement. They then appologised, and then charged me fee's for the next three months for that missed payment (each time I phoned up, and they fixed it, but it was still annoying). I still came out ahead...

Just enjoy having it there, don't spend it, and expect them to take it back in a month or so when some one gets their next statement and notices that their cheque didn't go in.

I just found out that my mother deposited $160, but somehow ended up in my account...stupid bank, no idea how they mixed that up.

Though I will gladly accept the $160 from you, RedemptionBass. Just leave me your bank account number and credit card number so I can make the transaction.
